"Trials it is said, are meant to test our Fortitude..."
Indeed. This week has been nothing short of "slimy wonderful".
I mean this in that I have had loads and loads of wonderful things happen, (which I give thanks for always), and yet, some still seem to be covered in slime that I must clean off before I realize what they are.
This week I was picked as Editor in Chief of the school paper. I really really am honored. It's the coolest thing I could have asked for, second to the fact that I'm working with some really amazing friends. (Who I'm sure could handle everything without me!). Wonderful event.
I had a tricky interview for one of my articles...really meant to test my fortitude, but, if I may quote The Penguins of Madagascar, "Just Smile and Wave boys!". True that. So many quotes! "Just keep swimming" would have been accurate as well. Just move onto the next topic, be peaceful, be kind, be diligent, and take these particular stresses in moderation when possible.
Youth was fun Wednesday, the Sister Missionaries came and had a big Q&A session, where we learned even more about serving the Lord. It was most excellent.
Yesterday had to top it off though.
We finished up a really fun lab in Bio on DO, turbidity, & pH. (Distribution of Oxygen, and the measure of cloudiness of water). I got to discuss with a friend what religion my children would be if I married my other Indian friend. (Hindu Mormon anyone?) Not to mention what color..I'm so pale and freckled my legs and feet blend in with our concrete driveway...
Even though there was some slime, by seventh period (which I don't have), I had nothing better to do, so I wandered down to the girl's locker room and found Jewell. (Which I later found was a smart choice). We went out to her truck to check her low tire, deciding all the way that it was prudent for all girls to know how to maintenance one. {I can!}. We got there to find it filled, and a pump sitting in the cab. Her sweet Dad had come and done it for her. After sitting on the tailgate for a while, and talking about slimy occurrences in both of our lives, I finished the apple I was munching, and we went inside to figure out what to do next.
Training Room: Track team, football team watching: A medium sized game of "WA!!!", which got out of control in a hurry, then a game of duck duck goose, which too didn't last long...and then... RED ROVER!!! Those track girls are STRONG!! It was like watching each girl hit a force field..and then getting knocked onto their backs. It was so funny, we had to stop because everyone was on the floor, tears streaming.
Pep Rally time! As of this year, I have attempted to avoid all pep rallies other than Homecoming, which is too funny to pass up. (Cross-dressing football players). I'm so glad Jewell convinced me to go, I got to be a part of the tunnel that all of the football players run through on their way out to the court, we jammed, and sang and screamed at the top of our lungs!! The special band tribute to 9-11 was really moving, recognizing local police, fire fighters, and other emergency response personnel. The National Anthem was sung in pride.
Anyway, the day ended well, picked up Jewell's chicken strip dinners at the middle school, realized I couldn't remember my way around the place, (which owes much to the power of mental blocking), came home, used my new four lens 35 mm black and white camera for some of the boy's skateboard and scooter tricks...and then hung with Miriam.
Good day. Good week. Good year.
P.S. I totally rain-danced yesterday (had new chants and everything). Nothing came of it until...one in the morning. Delayed progress, yet still progressing!
