Gee Howdy.. I don't think I could do it.
I was just watching The Big Valley, just linked over actually, and Audra had offered herself up as a mistress for the suave/evil speculator to save her friends' ranches from being foreclosed [and making everybody homeless]. Would I have had that courage? To begin with, I don't think that was courage. I think that was foolishness. I have different beliefs...my virtue being wayyy important; but, if there was something else I could sacrifice, be it fortune or assets, I may. ORRRR I may just shoot the speculator. PROBLEM SOLVED.
Hmm.
Good thing he realized how courageous and innocent she was, and extended the loan periods and let her be, otherwise her brothers would have killed him three different ways at one time.
She frustrates me, that Audra, she's really naive. I would have threatened to expose his motives to the nation [the Barkleys have serious connections], thereby ruining any further business ventures, mortgaged all the mills to help give better loans to the ranchers [no crummy 12%!!], and then arranged to bring that one guy from episode 22 back from the dead to explain that you don't betray a Barkley and get away with it. [Or the three raw-hiders from episode 16, or the weird guy in pinstripes who shanghaied Nick in episode 21].
Of course, this only the top of the cupcake of my desire to be able to wear Civil War era clothing.
CURSE YOU SCARLETT O'HARA!!!!!

P.S. Email me for a copy of the Civil War Era newspaper I created for Psychology class.
